Daniel Rea, Business Manager, Owner
Originally native to Tallahasee, Daniel has now been in the Gainesville area for almost eleven years. He graduated from University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. Although he and Dr. Rea have been married since 2009, they have just recently decided to purchase and run Lake Area Animal Hospital together. Amber takes care of the patients, while he handles everything else. In his off-time, however, Daniel loves to go camping, fishing, and spend time woodworking.
Amber Rea, DVM
Dr. Rea graduated from University of Florida in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science Biology and a Doctorate in veterinary medicine. She is originally native to Tampa, Florida, but has lived in the Gainesville area for almost eleven years. Her main interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and critical care of domestic animals. She completed her clinical research in Methicillin Resistant Staph (MRSA) infections in dogs, cats, and horses. When she is not hard at work, Dr. Rea also enjoys baking cakes and spending time outdoors with her family. She has a energetic son Nathaniel, a dog named Pig, and a cat named Celery.
Julie-Anne Corda, DVM
Dr. Julie-Anne Corda grew up in Connecticut. She moved to Florida to attend University of Florida where she received her BS in Animal Sciences, MS in Animal Sciences and then graduated from University of Florida CVM in 2001. Dr. Corda’s interests include preventative medicine, surgery and pet rescues/adoptions. She lives in Gainesville Florida with her husband, two sons, three dogs and two cats. She enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering with pet welfare organizations and traveling.
Dr. Jones, DVM
Dr. Jones started her path to becoming a veterinarian by receiving a Bachelors degree in biology at the University of South Florida. She then continued on to obtain her Doctorate in Veterinary medicine at the University of Florida. While in school she completed a business program specifically geared towards managing and running a veterinary hospital. In veterinary medicine her primary interests are in Dentistry, Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine. Growing up in North Central Florida, Dr. Jones has been able to discover many of the rivers, lakes and springs that are abundant in this area. Whenever she has free time, you can find her enjoying the many activities of the outdoors such as fishing, camping and tubing. Dr. Jones and her fiance share responsibility of their two dogs, Jake and Lily.
Reggie, Veterinary Nurse
Reggie has been with Lake Area Animal Hospital since the mid 80’s and is a valuable team leader. She lives with her daughters on Lake Alto. She has a passion for animal wellfare. Her hobbies include water sports, horse riding, training, and camping. She has raised labradors for 20 years. She enjpys spending time with her family and her pets (Whiskey, Justice, Freedom, Levi, Isabell, Hause, Skylar, Honey, and Cheddar).
Sarah is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She recently moved with her family from Nebraska to enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine. In addition to her technical training, she is also a certified nutritional counselor. Please feel free to bring her any labels or nutritional questions you may have. She enjoys taking the time to demystify pet food and educate you on the important nutrients your pet needs to thrive.
Hallie, Veterinary Assistant
Hallie is an aspiring nurse, horse lover, and avid country music fan. She is great with helping pets get acclimated to the hospital are calming nervous pets while boarding. She is currently taking courses at Santa Fe college and is anticipating a career in nursing.
Tabitha Parker, Veterinary Nurse
Tabby has spent many years working in various facets of the veterinary field from overnight emergency medicine to general practice. Her attention to detail, technical skills, and dedication show in everything she does. She is always willing to give a helping hand.
Libby joins Lake Area Animal Hospital after being a dance instructor and business owner of a local landscaping company. Her cheerful attitude has made her a great addition to the team. She has a little chihuahua named Tucker, 3 children and 1 grandson.
Amy’s bubbly personality and welcoming smile are wonderful assest to the Lake Area family. You will find her most often in the Hawthorne office where she is the head receptionist. She is an avid horseback rider, mom, and certified health nut.
Christy is multi-talented and doubles as an assistant and a receptionist when needed. She is a baseball/football mom and avid pintrest crafter. She has a bully named trigger, a terrier named Cora, and the newest family member is a “little” great dane puppy named Hadies.
Leah, Kennel Technician
Leah takes care of all our boarding guests, making sure they have everything they need. She is responsible for feeding, watering, walking and giving extra love and attention to every pet staying in the hospital. She also works behind the scenes making sure that the facilities are clean as they can be.
Carol has been grooming for many years. Her attention to detail and caring touch are key qualities contributing to her immense popularity. Due to this overwhelming popularity, it is not uncommon for her schedule to fill up quickly so be sure to call ahead to schedule an appointment with her in advance. She takes appointments Tues-Friday in the Melrose office.
