Daniel Rea
Business Manager, Owner
Originally native to Tallahasee, Daniel has now been in the Gainesville area for almost eleven years. He graduated from University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. Although he and Dr. Rea have been married since 2009, they have just recently decided to purchase and run Lake Area Animal Hospital together. Amber takes care of the patients, while he handles everything else. In his off-time, however, Daniel loves to go camping, fishing, and spend time woodworking.
Amber Rea
DVM
Dr. Rea graduated from University of Florida in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science Biology and a Doctorate in veterinary medicine. She is originally native to Tampa, Florida, but has lived in the Gainesville area for almost eleven years. Her main interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and critical care of domestic animals. She completed her clinical research in Methicillin Resistant Staph (MRSA) infections in dogs, cats, and horses. When she is not hard at work, Dr. Rea also enjoys baking cakes and spending time outdoors with her family. She has a energetic son Nathaniel, a dog named Pig, and a cat named Celery.
Gerald Johnson
DVM
Dr. Johnson received his Veterinary Degree from the University of Florida in 1982. He is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. He combines his love for pets and their people with his experience in conventional and alternative medicine.
Jon
Office Manager
Jon joined the Lake Area Animal Hospital team in March 2022. He was born and raised in South Florida and moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida in 2013. While originally studying for a B.S. in Criminology, he discovered his passion for veterinary medicine. In his spare time, Jon enjoys fishing and playing video games with friends. He currently has several pets of his own, including two dogs and one cat.
